British Airways (BA) confirmed plans to undertake a major route network expansion from London Gatwick Airport, launching services to New York JFK, Porto and Valencia †see Route Changes Table for more information (ch-aviation, 20-May-08).

The carrier also plans to launch London City-Dublin service, while discontinuing Manchester-New York JFK service on 25-Oct-08. BA stated this week it is considering cutting more services from Oct-08 in response to high fuel prices.

British Airways: “Given the global economic situation and fuel price it will be sensible to review capacity for the forthcoming winter… Whether we shall [cut it] or not will come out in due course – it’s still under review – but we will announce details in the coming months.” Spokesperson.
