Lufthansa Cargo and World Airways have signed a 15-month contract beginning 1-Jul-08 for three World Airways MD-11 freighters to operate between Europe and the United States for Lufthansa Cargo. World has been operating continuously for Lufthansa Cargo since 2006.
Jeff Sanborn, chief marketing officer, said, "World Airways has performed very reliably for Lufthansa between New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Europe, and we are pleased that they have demonstrated their confidence in us by renewing our current contract. Lufthansa Cargo is a leading international carrier with an impeccable reputation, and World is proud to be one of Lufthansa Cargo's partners in providing excellent service for their customers."
Bernhard Kindelbacher, senior vice president, Network and Product Management of Lufthansa Cargo, added, "We very much appreciate the support of World Airways -- as they are a very professional and reliable partner for our worldwide network."
Lufthansa Cargo operates 19 MD-11 freighters and utilizes three additional MD-11 freighters from World Airways.
