Aer Lingus announced its winter schedule for 2008/09 from Cork Airport with the addition of a new service from Cork to Geneva. This brings to 18 the number of routes operated by the airline from Cork.
A New service from Cork to Geneva will commence early December while flights to Faro will be extended beyond the summer schedule, operating until the end of November. Commenting on the announcement, Enda Corneille, Corporate Affairs Director, said, "This demonstrates our continued commitment to the Cork region & the South of Ireland. We are delighted to extend our offering, giving customers greater choice of destination, quality service and creating new links in inbound tourism all of which is enhancing our customer base from Cork." Commenting on the development, Kevin Cullinane, Marketing Manager Cork Airport said, "We are delighted to welcome the addition of Geneva with Aer Lingus to the growing number of destinations served from Cork Airport. As Munster's principal international gateway to the South of Ireland, Cork Airport continues to expand its network of destinations and growth into Europe which, in recent years has been led by Aer Lingus."

Since 2002, Aer Lingus has increased capacity from Cork Airport by 70%, with the addition of three A320 aircraft, bringing the fleet complement to four. The airline employs in excess of 270 staff directly, while serving to generate additional employment indirectly. In addition to passenger services Aer Lingus also provides Cargo services from Cork to London, Birmingham and a further 8 European destinations.
