SAS rules out Spanair sale to Iberia; eyes offer from Catalan Group-report

(XFN Asia) SAS AB has reportedly ruled out the sale of its Spanair unit to Iberia Lineas Aereas de Espana SA, as it considers its offer too low. SAS is now focusing on a potential offer from a group of Catalan investors led by hotel chain, Husa, and the region's private business foundation, FemCat.

FemCat is reportedly trying to sound out renewed interest from tourism operator, Grupo Marsans.

Grupo Marsans Chairman, Gonzalo Pascual, and co-owner, Gerardo Diaz Ferran, announced a full bid for Spanair in Dec-07 but later withdrew the offer after SAS decided to opt for a public bidding process.

SAS has reportedly set a minimum EUR300 million price tag for the airline, and has a deadline of until 30-Jun-08 30 for the sale.
