Alitalia’s EUR300 million government loan to be temporarily the airline’s own capital

The European Union has expressed concerns about the loan, which stated the loan could be classed as illegal state aid. Meanwhile, Alitalia’s auditors, Deloitte & Touche, will reportedly not certify the carrier’s 2007 results, which will be discussed at an Alitalia board meeting on 23-May-08 (Thomson Financial, 21-May-08).
