Alitalia’s EUR300 million government loan will reportedly be temporarily counted as the airline’s own capital (AFP, 21-May-08).

The European Union has expressed concerns about the loan, which stated the loan could be classed as illegal state aid. Meanwhile, Alitalia’s auditors, Deloitte & Touche, will reportedly not certify the carrier’s 2007 results, which will be discussed at an Alitalia board meeting on 23-May-08 (Thomson Financial, 21-May-08).
