As part of its long-term fleet-renewal programme, S7 Airlines has received two new Airbus A320 aircraft directly from the manufacturer in Toulouse, France on 21-May-08 and 23-May-08 under an operational leasing agreement with ILFC Company. The two new Airbus A320s are already being operated on S7 routes. The company will acquire six more new aircrafts of this type by the end of 2008.

After commissioning, the new aircraft will transport passengers on the Moscow-Kemerovo, Moscow-Sochi, Moscow-Novosibirsk, Moscow-Frankfurt (Germany), Novosibirsk-Vladivostok and Novosibirsk-Beijing (PRC) routes.

The Airbus A320-200 is a modern narrow-body aircraft designed to transport 164 passengers, with eight business class seats and 156 economy-class seats.

In 2007, S7 Airlines continued to implement its strategic fleet renewal programme in effect until 2014. The programme involves the conclusion of several large contracts with manufacturers, Boeing and Airbus, on the acquisition of more than 50 new aircrafts, including:

  • 25 Airbus A320s with the first delivery scheduled for 2009;
  • 10 Boeing 737-800s with the first delivery scheduled for 2010;
  • 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliners with the first delivery scheduled for 2014 (the airline will be the first Russian airline to operate the B787).

S7 Airlines’ fleet currently includes 69 long-distance aircrafts including 33 of foreign manufacture.
