Tarom Romania Air Transport has achieved the first renewal of its IOSA registration at the end of a smooth preparation and audit process. Tarom was first audited under IOSA in May-06 and at the beginning of 2007 was listed on the IOSA registry as an IOSA registered airline. In Jan-08, Tarom was again audited for five days for its first renewal of their IOSA certificate.
On the 07-May-08, the International Air Transport Association updated the website where the registry is hosted, with the new validity date which for Tarom is now the 06-May-10. The renewal audit followed the same procedures as the initial audit checking conformity with more than 900 IOSA standards and recommended practices spanning eight operational areas of the airline. IOSA is an internationally recognised evaluation system and the industry benchmark for airline global safety management. The IOSA audit is designed to improve airline operational safety capability around the world and includes all eight major areas of an airline activities that promote a safe operation including airline organisation and management, flight operations, operational control and flight dispatch, maintenance and engineering, cabin operations, aircraft ground handling, cargo operations, and operational security. © Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation.
