Air Berlin reduces flights to Shanghai

Tags :Route Changes & Development, Air Berlin

Air Berlin is reducing the number of its flights between Düsseldorf and Shanghai from the end of June. From July onwards there will only be three flights a week, rather than five. The outbound flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, the inbound flights on Wednesdays, Fridays and Mondays.

Speaking in Berlin on 27 May, Air Berlin’s CEO Joachim Hunold cited "the drop in demand for the Chinese market and the high fuel costs" as the reasons for this change. He also said that Beijing was still interesting because of the upcoming Olympic Games and that those five flights per week would continue.
