Italian Government reportedly plans to establish guidelines for the sale of Alitalia this week, permitting Bruno Ermolli, the Italian businessman selected by Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, to establish a consortium to rescue the carrier, to perform due diligence and prepare an offer (Reuters, 27-May-08). A new CEO may also be announced for the carrier this week.
