S7 Airlines Increasing Sales of Electronic Tickets
29-May-2008 |
S7 Airlines, Russia’s largest air carrier by number of transported passengers on domestic routes, has launched electronic ticketing technology in the reservation system of Sirena-Travel on its own ticket stock.
Sirena-Travel is an automated airline reservation system that is widely used by agents who sell tickets in the regions of Russia and the CIS. Previously through Sirena-Travel it was possible to purchase only paper tickets for S7 Airlines flights.
“Now that agents have access to e-tickets through Sirena-Travel using the S7 Airlines system, it will be possible to increase the share of sales of the company’s electronic tickets,** because now the system offers the possibility of issuing electronic tickets on all S7 Airlines routes where e-tickets are accepted. And this is 87% of all S7 Airlines routes,” said the company’s Deputy Director for Sales Network Development Ruslan Vereshchagin.
S7 Airlines is the first Russian airline to give agents the possibility of assigning the air carrier’s number when issuing electronic tickets at Sirena-Travel through its own sales channel, instead of in the neutral environment of the Air Transport Settlement System (ATSS). Tickets have been issued on S7 Airlines flights through the Sirena-Travel system in the neutral environment since February 2008.
