BAA announced the appointment of a Managing Director for the new airports division, with responsibility for running six of BAAs seven UK airports, namely Gatwick, Stansted, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Southampton airports. Stephen Peat will join BAA on 01-Jul-08, from Amey, part of the Ferrovial Group.
Peat is currently Director of Operations for the Tube Lines consortium, which is regenerating the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines on behalf of London Underground.
Colin Matthews, CEO of BAA, said, “Following the appointment of Mike Brown to manage Heathrow Airport, I am delighted to have secured the services of Stephen Peat, who has a strong track record in managing change and growing businesses in challenging operational environments. I am determined to build a strong team, which will deliver higher standards and better airport facilities for passengers and airlines and, while we clearly have work to do, this latest appointment to the senior team is a further step in the right direction.”
Prior to taking up his role at Tube Lines, Stephen Peat was Managing Director of Amey Rail, and also worked in senior positions at Tarmac and Wimpey construction.
