Alitalia needs international partner, Air France-KLM is an option - Berlusconi

In comments after a meeting with French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, Berlusconi said the two leaders had spoken about the future of Alitalia, in which the state owns 49.9%.
 
Berlusconi said "In the future, it will be useful for Alitalia to have agreements with international companies. Air France could be a good solution."
 
Meanwhile, Sarkozy said cooperation between the two airlines would be welcome, adding that it is up to Air France to take its own decisions, "It is Air France that has to take its own decisions. There could always be another possibility to cooperate, these are possibilities that are always welcome.”
 
In April, Air France withdrew its offer to take over Alitalia, citing problems in winning trade union support.
