(XFN Asia) Aer Lingus Group Plc announced it has taken a further step towards cutting its aircraft maintenance bill by more than EUR20 million by signing deals with maintenance contractor SR Technics. Aer Lingus has concluded contracts with SR Technics Ireland Ltd for line activities in Dublin related to most of its Airbus A320/321 and A330 aircraft. Maintenance services under these new arrangements will commence from 06-Jul-08.

A consortium of investors from the United Arab Emirates made up of, Mubadala Development, Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) and Istithmar holds a majority share in SR Technics, while SR's board and management has a minority share.

In April, Aer Lingus said it had concluded contracts with Sabena Technics and Sogerma Services of the TAT Group to maintain A320 and A330 jets from 01-Nov-08 in France.

Aer Lingus said it had awarded the latest contracts for 10-year periods to 2018, including an option allowing the airline to renegotiate terms at defined future dates if market prices for line maintenance services change during the contract periods.
