Air France imposes 16th fuel surcharge as Ryanair guarantees no fuel surcharge

Ryanair renewed its guarantee of ‘no fuel surcharges ever’ as Air France increases its fuel surcharge for the 16th time.

Air France has applied the following fuel surcharge:

  • Air France domestic surcharge EUR19 one way;
  • Air France Europe surcharge EUR31 one way;
  • Air France Long Haul EUR111 one way.

Ryanair’s Daniel de Carvalho said “There is no justification for imposing this 16th fuel surcharge increase. Air France claims to have hedged 78% of its fuel supplies at USD40 below current market rates. Since Air France isn’t paying high fuel prices, why is it increasing fuel surcharges for the 16th time in the recent years? Air France’s European surcharge of EUR31 is now over 75% of Ryanair’s average fee of just EUR40. This is why Air France passengers are increasingly deserting high fare airlines like Air France with their unfair fuel surcharges and coming to Ryanair for our guaranteed lowest fares with a guarantee of no fuel surcharges. Ryanair is today selling 100,000 seats for just EUR10 (including taxes and charges), on our 106 routes to/ from France.”
