Air Mauritius starts seasonal flights from Madrid

Air Mauritius launched a series of weekly flights from Madrid on 17-Jun-08 with A340 equipment. This direct flight will operate every week until Oct-08, providing close to an additional 11,000 seats for the market to develop.

Customers will have the option of travelling one way on the direct service, and the other on one of the airline’s direct daily services to Europe.

Air Mauritius CEO, Manoj R K Ujoodha, G.O.S.K, said “We are delighted to be operating this series of flights during our low season and Spain’s high season. We have invested heavily in the Spanish market for years and have kept an office in Madrid even though we did not have a direct operation. We are now making a further investment by dedicating a flight per week for eighteen weeks. We are pleased with the positive response from the market - tour operators, travel agents and customers - and are confident that the flights will be a success. We are forecasting good loads until October and hope to turn this seasonal operation into a yearly operation in the near future.”
