Air Atlanta Icelandic has signed two “wet lease” agreements with Saudi Arabian Airlines, making the latter Air Atlanta’s largest customer with five of its B747 classic aircraft in operation.

With reference to Air Atlanta’s VP Sales & Marketing, Baldvin M. Hermannsson, the already existing B747 200F freighter agreement has been extended for additional two years, or until June 2010, but the aircraft has been successfully flying a heavy schedule for Saudia Cargo since 2006.

“With immediate effect we are also adding a B747 300 passenger aircraft on a long term ACMI contract with Saudia” Hermannsson says, explaining that the B747 300 will be utilized for both Hajj and Umrah, as well as other flights on the Saudia network until 31 of December 2009, at least.

“We have also signed a B747 300 passenger aircraft on ‘dry lease’ to AeroSur in Bolivia, with the possibility of entering into a ‘Crew and Maintenance’ agreement with AeroSur to support their schedule into Madrid and Miami” Hermannsson continues. Simultaneously, Hermannsson reveals that the Airbus A300 600 contract with Air France has also been extended until the end of August this year.

“In today’s competitive market we can be proud of these achievements. Despite fierce competition from other ACMI operators, Saudi Arabian Airlines has underlined, yet again, that Air Atlanta Icelandic is their first choice when it comes to fleet additions. For this achievement we can thank the professionalism, flexibility and dedication of all Air Atlanta Icelandic staff, not only in Jeddah, but worldwide” says Hermannsson in a conclusive manner and justifiably pleased.
