Existing shareholders, including the Government of Mauritius, concluded an agreement with British Airways for the purchase of the latter's shares in Air Mauritius.

Robbie Baird, British Airways’ Area General Manager Asia Pacific and the airline’s representative on the Air Mauritius Board, said: “Our investment in Air Mauritius no longer forms a core part of our business strategy. We invested in the airline when it was a start-up airline. It is now a successful carrier, operating to the highest standards and no longer requires our involvement and support.”

Sanjay Bhuckory, the airline’s Chairman and Manoj R K Ujoodha, G.O.S.K., the airline’s CEO declared in a joint statement: “We would like to thank British Airways and all its Directors who have served on our Board during the past 35 years for their guidance and support. We are confident that our relationship with British Airways will remain as strong and healthy as it has always been. We are pleased with the conclusion of the transaction with our existing shareholders. We commend them for their unflinching support of, and their commitment to, Air Mauritius.”
