MILAN (XFN-ASIA) - Alitalia SpA chairman Aristide Police said the company's adviser Intesa Sanpaolo SpA is planning an injection of fresh capital into the loss-making airline as well as international alliances.

Police said he plans to meet privatisation adviser Intesa Sanpaolo CEO Corrado Passera in the next few hours to receive the first indications of the business plan that Intesa is working on. "I am certain that for the end of July, we will have a full view on the relaunch of the company, and I am certain, a view shared with the trade unions," he said.

The plan should include a "stand-alone" phase, supported by the fresh capital, then the search for stronger international partnerships, including existing ties and with new partners, he said.

Alitalia is 49.9 percent owned by the Italian state.  In further comments, Police said Intesa Sanpaolo is working "very intensively" to maintain the company's "continuity" and for its relaunch. There has been speculation the airline could be put into administration.
The plan should put sales and costs on a sustainable basis so that after the relaunch the company is profitable, Police said.
Speculation of 4,000 job losses is "absolutely premature", he said, adding that union representatives' views will be taken fully into consideration.

The Intesa business plan will be "shared" with shareholders when they meet Saturday, he said. After the business plan "all link-ups are welcome", he said, responding to questions on reports of a tie up with Italian airlines Meridiana and Air One.
