In Jun-08, passenger capacity, measured in Available Seat Kilometres, was 1.2% above Jun-07. Traffic, measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres, fell by 3.7%.

 

This resulted in a passenger load factor decrease of 3.8 points versus last year, to 76.7%. Traffic comprised a 3.1% decrease in premium traffic and a 3.8% fall in non-premium traffic.
 
Cargo, measured in Cargo Tonne Kilometres, rose by 3.3%.
 
 
Strategic Developments
 
British Airways' new subsidiary airline OpenSkies made its first commercial flight on Thursday June 19 between Paris Orly and New York JFK. We have added to the business with the acquisition of L'Avion in July.
 
British Airways reached an agreement to sell its 10.5% share in Air Mauritius for GBP3.2 million.
 
 
The airline completed the first phase of its transfer of longhaul services from Terminal 4 into Terminal 5 on 5-Jun. The remaining services to operate from Terminal 5 will move in two stages, on Wednesday 17-Sept, 2008 and at the end of October 2008. T5 continues to work well with almost 1.7m passengers using the terminal in June.
 
The airline has completed its move out of the Compass Centre at Heathrow Airport. From 25-Jun all Heathrow based cabin crew and flight crew report for their duties at a dedicated centre within Terminal 5.
