Aer Lingus fuel surcharge timing proves as bad as its punctuality

Ryanair congratulated Aer Lingus on displaying yet another example of ridiculous timing as they increased their fuel surcharge on its passengers precisely when fuel has fallen to its lowest levels in two months.

Stephen, McNamara, Ryanair’s Head of Communications said:

“Aer Lingus has repeatedly increased its fuel surcharge, taking it to a new peak with 9th fuel surcharge increase as oil drops to $125 for the first time in seven weeks. As fuel prices are falling so too should their surcharge, yet today they slap another increase on their passengers.  This is confirmation that the airline has been using fuel surcharges as a mask for higher airfares. This is blatant profiteering by the airline. Aer Lingus are clearly unable to compete with Ryanair’s fares. Ryanair remains the only airline with no fuel surcharges and low fare guarantee”.
