Malév announced the introduction of web check-in. This new service, using the technology of aviation IT specialist SITA, enables Malév passengers departing from Budapest Ferihegy airport to check-in quickly and easily from anywhere, avoiding queues and speeding their journey through the airport.
Péter Leonov, CEO, Malév said: “Passengers are demanding more self-service options and we are delighted to make them available. With our new Online Check-in Malév’s e-ticketed passengers departing from Budapest to all short haul destinations can check-in from the comfort of their own home, office, or indeed anywhere they have Internet access.
“Web check-in is just one of the many ways we are providing options to our customers to ease their journey with us. Already we have installed 6 self-service check-in kiosks at our home base Budapest Airport and for many years now we have provided online booking to all our customers. Over the next 12 months we will extend Online Check-in to our passengers flying from any airport where this type of check-in can be implemented.”
Ilya Gutlin, Regional Vice President Eastern and Central Europe SITA, said: “Extending check-in services to the web fulfils three objectives – it increases passenger satisfaction, helps to reduce congestion at airports and reduces costs.
“Over the past year, we have worked very closely with Malév to support the airline’s reMAke programme aimed at boosting revenues and reducing costs. Our integrated solutions including; common use self-service (CUSS) kiosks, departure control system, and suite of inventory, revenue management, fares and pricing applications have enabled the airline to move to providing efficient self-service which will meet the aims of reMAke.” Malév is a member of the oneworld alliance and operates scheduled flights to almost 50 cities in 33 countries. It has been awarded the "Best Airline in Eastern Europe" by American Global Traveler Magazine in 2006 and 2007 and has been awarded “Airline of the Year” every year since 2004 based on a public opinion survey carried out by "Az Utazó" (Traveler) magazine in Hungary.
