VLM Airlines has introduced additional flights to cater for increased demand, following the disruption to services through the Channel Tunnel.
On 12-Sept, and over the weekend of 13th/14th-Sept, the carrier added four extra flights from its London City hub to Brussels and Antwerp, and reported a sharp increase in customer demand with virtually all of its flights sold out.
With the continued disruption to Channel Tunnel services, it has temporarily increased its London City to Brussels service from two to three daily flights on 17th, 18th and 19th Sept-08. The extra service departs London City at 8.55pm, arriving in Brussels at 10.55pm. The additional service from Brussels departs at 8.15pm, arriving 8.25pm. (All times local).
VLM Airlines also offers five return flights a day from London City to Antwerp.
Johan Vanneste, Managing Director of VLM Airlines, stated: “Last week, many Eurostar customers contacted our call centre, made online reservations or booked through a travel agent. Our normal and extra flights were sold out in no time, sometimes even within a few minutes.
“I expect that this situation may continue for quite a while, as it could take several weeks and maybe even months before the second tunnel under the Channel is fully operational. That is why we have are added extra frequencies on our routes to Belgium this week, and may add further flights in the weeks ahead.”
