Ryanair calls on airlines to reduce fuel surcharges

Ryanair called on British Airlines, Air France, Lufthansa and Aer Lingus to reduce their fuel surcharges as oil prices have fallen by over 30% in recent weeks.

Speaking today in Stephen McNamara, Ryanair’s said:

“The response to our Winter Sales drive has been phenomenal, last week we achieved yet another sales record as we continue to see passengers opt for Ryanair’s guaranteed lowest fares and the promise of no fuel surcharge.

Greedy airlines need to realise that passengers are no longer willing to pay unjustified fuel surcharges. Airlines such as BA, Air France, Aer Lingus and Lufthansa were quick to impose and increase fuel surcharges as fuel prices rose. However, they are less responsive to the fall in fuel prices and passengers are yet to see any of these airlines reduce or remove the surcharges they impose.

This 1 million EUR1 seat sale for October, November and December proves that Ryanair continues to be the only airline which can guarantee the lowest airfares and no fuel surcharge. We urge passengers to book these EUR1 seats www.ryanair.com before midnight on Sunday.”
