Wizz Air announced (22-Oct-08) that it would launch flights between Kiev and Katowice. The route will be the first low cost air link between Ukraine and Poland. The new service will be operated three times a week initially starting from 03-Jan-09, subject to necessary regulatory approval.

The introduction of Kiev-Katowice comes shortly after Wizz Air’s announcement of starting flights from Kiev to Dortmund and Cologne and from Lvov to Dortmund and London Luton.

Tickets are on sale with one-way all-inclusive fares starting from as low as UAH 199/PLN 79 for the German and the Polish routes and UAH 299 for Lviv-London Luton (an additional GBP 40 air duty passenger charge imposed by the UK government is applicable on the London Luton-Lviv flight leg).

Natasa Kázmér, Director of the Board of Wizz Air Ukraine said, “We are pleased that we can open the first low cost route between Poland and Ukraine, two countries that are linked in so many ways: historically, culturally, economically and family-wise. Thanks to the new affordable, fast and comfortable travel opportunity between Kiev and Katowice these relationships will now tighten and further develop to the benefit of both countries. It is just the beginning of a strong growth of Wizz Air in Ukraine: you will soon see more aircraft, more new routes and more low fares.”
