Aer Lingus is to reduce its long haul fuel surcharges by up to 20% on all tickets booked for flights between Ireland and the US with immediate effect. The fuel surcharge reduction represents a decrease of up to EUR20/USD40 per sector and comes as a result of the recent decrease in international oil prices.

The fuel surcharge will decrease on the following long haul flights per sector:

* Flights to New York and Boston will decrease from EUR75 to EUR60

* Flights to Washington will decrease from EUR75 to EUR70

* Flights to Chicago will decrease from EUR85 to EUR70

* Flights to Orlando will decrease from EUR95 to EUR75

* Flights to San Francisco will decrease from EUR110 to EUR99

Dermot Mannion, Aer Lingus Chief Executive, said, "This is good news for Aer Lingus customers. We have consistently reassured customers that the fuel surcharge would be kept under active review as part of Aer Lingus' continued commitment to its low fares strategy. We are pleased to honour that commitment now that oil prices have fallen."

The fuel surcharge reduction will only apply to new bookings for long haul travel made from 29-Oct.
