Czech Airlines passes International ISO 14001 certification audit
06-Nov-2008 |
At the end of October, Czech Airlines successfully passed the final stage of an environmental audit according to the ISO 14001 international norm. The certification audit took place in two rounds, from July to October.
The audit by the international organisation Det Norske Veritas focused on flight and ground operations, technical aircraft maintenance, training programmes, and sales and support activities. The outcome of the audit shows that, in its key processes and activities, Czech Airlines has undertaken a number of systemic steps and improvements with a long-term view to the environment, having achieved a level compliant with the highest international standards. ISO 14001 is an international standard recognised worldwide, according to which an environmental management system is set up. It is a system for reducing environmental impacts and for environmental protection. The thorough implementation of the required standards and of the system will thus help the company comply with environmental legislation and motivate it to continuously improve, such that its activities pose the least possible risk to the environment. The demanding international standards prescribed by the ISO 14001 are by no means met by all airlines. In the SkyTeam Alliance, aside from Czech Airlines, a certificate is also held, for example, by Air France-KLM. The subject of the audit was the entire range of Czech Airlines’ activities, i.e., scheduled as well as charter commercial air carriage, aircraft and passenger ground handling, aircraft technology maintenance and repair, air crew training, as well as the training of technical and operational staff, and duty free sales.
