Lufthansa Systems expands e-ticket interlining connections for Austrian Airlines

Lufthansa Systems has implemented (13-Nov-08) a further 90 e-ticket interlining connections for Austrian Airlines. The Austrian carrier has been using the e-ticket interlining solution from Lufthansa Systems since 2005.

The solution takes into account the highly complex requirements of e-ticket interlining, which enables airlines to share each others e-ticket information. As a result, passengers do not have to use conventional paper tickets, even if they change airlines en route to their final destination. The number of interlining projects has been rising continually since early 2007. Lufthansa Systems implemented more than 190 interlining connections in 2007, compared to 35 in 2006. With more than 300 new connections in 2008 so far the previous year's figure has already been surpassed in the first eight months of 2008. The increase is partially due to the International Air Transport Association’s requirement to adopt electronic tickets as the new global standard as of the end of May-08.
