Hans-Christoph Noack (54), previously responsible for the management column in the financial pages of the German newspaper F.A.Z. (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung), has been appointed as Communications Director of Air Berlin PLC with effect from 01-Jan-09.

He is succeeding Peter Hauptvogel (67), who will remain with the company as adviser to the board of management and editor-in-chief of the Air Berlin magazine. Hauptvogel has been in charge of the airline’s press office and public relations since 1992.

Hans-Christoph Noack studied economics and journalism. His professional career began in 1984 at the privately owned TV news channel Tele-F.A.Z., which also produced programmes such as the magazine shows for Sat.1. In spring 1988 Noack transferred to the editorial office of the newspaper’s financial section. In 1990, when the paper’s proprietors took over "Neue Zeit", the national newspaper of the former GDR, he was appointed as its deputy editor-in-chief. From 1995 onwards Noack ran the business newspaper "Blick durch die Wirtschaft". Since its merger with the F.A.Z. financial section he has been responsible for the paper’s management column, focusing on tourism and aviation.
