Ryanair increased the pressure on high fares airlines easyjet and British Airways as it announced its sixth route from London Gatwick with the launch of a new daily service to/from Dusseldorf (Weeze) from 07-Jan-09. This follows Ryanair’s recent announcement of routes to Barcelona (Girona) and Alicante.
Ryanair’s new Gatwick route to/from Dusseldorf (Weeze) switches from its London Stansted base where Ryanair has reduced capacity by 20% as a result of high costs at Stansted.
Ryanair celebrated its sixth London Gatwick route by releasing 1million EUR10 seats for travel in December, January and February and encourages passengers to log on to www.ryanair.com before midnight Sunday to secure one of these EUR10 seats.
Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara said:
“Thanks to the collapse of a number of high fares airlines Ryanair is able to bring its guaranteed lowest airfare and no fuel surcharge to even more Gatwick passengers. Our new European routes challenge the high fares airlines which currently operate from Gatwick and we provide passengers with real choice and a low fares option from Gatwick. Our Barcelona (Girona) and Alicante routes have already proved a big hit with passengers and we are confident that our new service to Dusseldorf (Weeze) will be just as successful.
“We urge passengers to take advantage of one of our 1 million EUR10 seats for travel in December, January and February which are available until midnight Sunday. We know that these low fares seats will be snapped up so our advice to passengers is to log on to www.ryanair.com today to avoid disappointment”.
