British Airways World Cargo announced (05-Dec-08) it will resume services to Saudi Arabia with the launch of five weekly flights to Jeddah and five weekly flights to Riyadh, from 29-Mar-09. This will be the first time the carrier has operated Saudi flights after suspending its services to the country in Mar-05 in response to reduced customer demand.

The Boeing 777 Riyadh flights and Jeddah B767 services will both depart from London Heathrow.

Johnny Rubio, area commercial manager, middle east, central Asia, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, said: "We are very pleased to offer these new flights, which will enable our customers in Saudi Arabia to access BA's global network and take advantage of our excellent connections to the US and Europe.

"Demand for services into Saudi Arabia has grown considerably as a result of significant increases in inward investment into the country and the ongoing importance of the oil market. We anticipate the bulk of cargo to reflect this investment with key commodities including building materials and equipment designed for the oil industry."
