Cargolux launches Cairo services
Cargolux Airlines International S.A. launched (06-Jan-09) a new B747 freighter service to Cairo. Since Dec-08, the service operates from Luxembourg every Tuesday at 8.30 a.m., arriving in Cairo at 1.35 p.m. (all times local).

The flight continues to Hong Kong. Forwarders have identified a need for airfreight capacity between Europe and Egypt that Cargolux responds to with the new service. The airline will carry general cargo, consisting mainly of consumer goods, as well as shipments for the oil and gas industry on its flights.

Egypt has registered a growth of 14% in its 2007 imports. The European Union is Egypt’s biggest trade partner with a 31.8% share of Egyptian imports and 37.9% of exports in 2007. European exports to Egypt have increased by 14% in the same year.
