Eastern Airways connected Newcastle International Airport with Oslo as it started its first ever link to the Norwegian capital from 12-Jan-09. The airline is offering a five times weekly connecting service from Newcastle to Oslo via Aberdeen.
Flights depart from Newcastle 7.10am arriving in Oslo at 1.05pm local time. Departures leave Oslo at 1.45pm, arriving in Newcastle at 5.10pm local time.
Eastern Airways' director, Graeme Ross said, "Our first service to Norway's capital will help to further strengthen business links between both regions. Our frequent service to Aberdeen from Newcastle has developed over the years providing businesses, including the energy sector with a vital transport link. In addition to this and our first Norwegian link to Stavanger, we are now offering a connecting service to the country's largest city."
Chris Sanders, Newcastle International Airport's head of aviation development, said: "We are delighted that Eastern Airways are making it easier for people to travel between Newcastle and Oslo. Trade ties between the North East and Norway are very strong and easy access will strengthen them further."
The airline also provides a non-stop daily weekday service from Newcastle to the Norwegian city of Stavanger. Domestic services from Newcastle have been offered by Eastern Airways since 2003 with flights to Aberdeen, Birmingham, Cardiff, Southampton and the Isle of Man.
