There was an increase of 2.7% on international scheduled flights and 21.2% on chartered flights. Following the trend of 2007, Germany, Sweden and Great Britain retained their positions as the popular scheduled flight destinations in Europe. Substantial increase in traffic to Asia Traffic between Asia and Finland increased by 16.5% in 2007, exceeding the 1.48 million passenger mark during the year. There were almost 1.9 million transit passengers at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport in 2008. Of this figure, a record 1,084,000 were international transit passengers, an increase of 16% on the previous year.
