Air France-KLM predicts Q3 operating loss; FY08/09 operating profit

Air France-KLM stated (20-Jan-09) the deterioration in the economic environment during the third quarter has led to a slight weakening in passenger unit revenues and a strong decline in cargo revenue. Unit costs werennot able to benefit from lower oil prices because of the negative effect of the oil hedges.
As a result, Air France-KLM’s operating income in the third quarter is likely to be negative. Operating income for the Financial Year 2008-09 as a whole should remain positive, but its level will depend on how the economic situation evolves in coming weeks.
