Austrian Airlines stated The Ground Staff Works Council has now agreed to the crisis package, and given its consent to a range of measures and savings amongst the members of the ground staff of Tyrolean, who number approximately 600.

In concrete terms, this involves time-limited suspension of pension fund contributions, a temporary 5% cut in salaries, and short-time working.

Tyrolean’s Managing Director Manfred Helldoppler and the heads of the Works Council of commercial-technical staff, Maria Gstaltmeyr, were both visibly satisfied with the result: “We were able to find rapid solutions in constructive talks, and will make our contribution to overcoming the crisis at the Group.”

The Austrian Presidents Dr. Peter Malanik and Dr. Andreas Bierwirth also welcomed the agreement: “While every interest group within the Group needs to be making its own contribution during these difficult times, the first step is often the hardest to take. As such, we want to express our gratitude and respect for our colleagues at Tyrolean, for having acted as rapidly as they have done. They have shown that, through constructive dialogue, we can accomplish a goal to secure our common future within an extremely short timescale. Now that this first important step has been taken at Tyrolean, we are confident we will be able to find a similar solution at Austrian in the near future. We can only overcome this crisis by working together.”
