Travelport GDS announces partnership with TCH in Russia

Travelport GDS, global distribution system providers, operating both the Galileo and Worldspan platforms, announced (12-Feb-09) a partnership with Transport Clearing House (TCH) in Russia. TCH acts as the executive body of the Air Transport Settlement System (ATSS), the organisation which supports revenue settlement procedures for over 6,800 travel agencies and around 120 airlines.
Under the new agreement, Galileo is the first GDS to be officially accredited to issue TCH e-tickets in Russia and beyond. Previously, travel agents were required to use a local GDS to manage such ticketing. The new e-ticketing product, which was developed in close co-operation with TCH experts, will allow ATSS accredited travel agencies to issue TCH e-tickets on all eligible domestic and international routes through the Galileo GDS. The solution also combines TCH e-ticketing with the extensive range of airline content available on the Galileo GDS, as TCH e-tickets can now also be issued on bookings made through interline agreements for all major carriers. This also includes carriers not participating in the ATSS, an option not previously available. Robin Ranken, Business Development Director for Airline Services in Eastern Europe said: “Our partnership with TCH is a massive step forward in the Russian market and will really equip all Galileo-connected users in Russia with significant new e-ticketing capabilities to offer their customers and greatly streamline the ticketing process.”
Alexander Russ, Senior Vice President of TCH said,“This initiative will no doubt contribute to the future development of our tour package sales system to include hotel, leisure, cruises and car rental bookings.”
