Air Berlin revises topbonus frequent flyer scheme

Air Berlin has completely revised its topbonus frequent flyer scheme. From 01-Apr-09 topbonus members will collect up to 300% more status and award miles on flights with Air Berlin and NIKI. The entry level to the airline’s frequent flyer scheme is the topbonus Card Classic. The award miles collected can be redeemed for free flights worldwide or for an upgrade to Business Class. The monthly bargain tickets are new. These are special offers that allow topbonus members to book an award flight from just 3,000 miles on ten selected routes.

A new element for status customers is “My Route”. Members can earn double award miles on their favourite route within Europe. The benefits available with Silver and Gold status are particularly interesting for business travellers, as they offer a faster and more relaxed procedure prior to boarding. topbonus members are now upgraded to Silver status, irrespective of the number of status miles they have collected, if they have flown with us at least 24 times in the previous 12 months. This corresponds to one return flight a month. From April onwards, Gold customers (from 40,000 status miles within 12 months) receive an additional 40% bonus on the award and status miles for their flights; they can also use an exclusive service hotline at local call rates and their award miles will not expire as long as they retain their Gold status.

With the new Air Berlin Visa Card, which is replacing the Air Berlin MasterCard from May onwards, members can collect topbonus award miles every time they use their card. The topbonus Service Card is ideal for all holiday travellers, as they receive a greater free baggage allowance and free seat reservation for an annual fee of just EUR59.
