Royal Jordanian to launch Amman-Brussels services

Royal Jordanian will inaugurate its first service between Amman and the Belgian capital, Brussels, on 01-Apr-09. The scheduled direct service to Brussels is added to the RJ network for commercial reasons, following studies of the Belgian market, which indicated that it is feasible to reconnect Jordan and Belgium.

It also comes in light of the open skies policy signed by the two countries in July last year that grants Jordan the 3rd and 4th freedom rights to operate between Amman and Brussels directly and with unlimited frequencies.

The airline will serve this route twice weekly, on Saturdays and Wednesdays, using the Airbus A319s, recently added to the fleet. It is bound to stimulate relations between Jordan and Belgium and facilitate transportation of businessmen and goods, and serve the Jordanian and Arab communities residing in Belgium. Additionally, it will boost tourism in both countries.

RJ resumes putting Brussels back to its route network, having suspending it in 2003. Thus, the airline will serve 57 destinations directly from Amman, in addition to other 700 destinations served by RJ’s partners in the oneworld airline alliance.
