Starting on 29-Mar Brussels Airlines and Lufthansa will offer code share flights between Belgium and Germany. Customers will be able to combine flights of both airlines, which gives them a lot more departure and connection possibilities.
The codeshare agreement will offer passengers of Brussels Airlines and Lufthansa a multitude of daily flights of both Brussels Airlines and Lufthansa between Brussels Airport and Frankfurt, Berlin, Hamburg, Hannover, Nuremberg and Stuttgart. For instance, it will be possible to fly on Brussels Airlines from Brussels to Berlin and to return on Lufthansa.
This agreement offers customers of both airlines an extended schedule and more flexibility. Brussels Airlines passengers who travel between Brussels and Frankfurt on weekdays will have the choice between not less than eleven flights in both directions. Another example : the codeshare agreement foresees in nine daily flights between Berlin and Brussels. Lufthansa and Brussels Airlines will also jointly offer numerous connecting flights to a whole range of European cities within their respective networks. For instance, Brussels Airlines will be able to offer seamless connections to Gothenburg, Lisbon, Warsaw, Vilnius and Krakow via Frankfurt.
Both airlines intend to include Munich in this codeshare agreement at a later point in time. Brussels Airlines and Lufthansa expect the launching of these flights during springtime. The codeshare flights will be open for sale as from 24 March. The joint operations will start on 29-Mar at the beginning of the 2009 summer season.
Managing Director at Brussels Airlines, Bernard Gustin said, “This codeshare agreement is excellent news for the Brussels Airlines customers. It allows us to add Hannover, Nuremberg and Stuttgart to our portfolio of destinations. Thanks to the enhanced flight offer between Brussels and Frankfurt these two important hubs are better connected, offering our customers a whole lot more flight combinations and, more importantly, the possibility to save precious time. This codeshare agreement is the perfect example of the benefits that our future membership of Star Alliance will yield. A few weeks ago we have already announced that on 29-Mar we will start with a genuine Business Class, called b.business.”
Since mid February the frequent flyers of Brussels Airlines and Lufthansa can use both carriers’ airport lounges. Soon the loyalty programmes of Lufthansa, Swiss and Brussels Airlines will be bundled.
