Malev anuncia nuevos destinos y aumenta la frecuencia de los vuelos

The Malév summer timetable coming into effect on 29-Mar features three new cities and additional services on established routes. The Hungarian carrier reinforces its East Europe route network with two brand-new destinations, the popular tourist and cultural destination of St Petersburg in Russia and Iasi, the airline's fifth destination in Romania.

Another new feature is a Malév flight to Amman, capital of Jordan; the national flag carrier flies on this route twice a week. Malév is the only carrier operating scheduled connections between the new destinations and Budapest.

Besides this expansion of the service network the airline is also upping frequencies on nine routes during the summer, plus it provides its customers with a double daily connection - on Malév-Aeroflot code-share flights - between Budapest and Moscow. In addition, top holiday resorts such as Malaga in Andalusia and Split on the Adriatic once again become accessible with aircraft of the Hungarian flag carrier.

Malév will operate two flights a week to St Petersburg, with a timetable specially planned for the individual traveller and offices organizing trips to this city of fascinating sights and cultural programmes. The airline is confident that the service will attract not only Hungarian tourists but also visitors from the Russian region interested in travelling to Budapest. Flights operate during the summer high season for travel between 22-Apr – 21-Oct.

The regional centre of Iasi in the northeast of Romania is Malév's fifth destination in the country. The airline will operate daytime flights to Iasi five times a week until the end of May, and then six times a week from June. Malév reckons that the new route will attract primarily transit travellers between the north-east region of Romania and West Europe, as well as Hungarian business travellers who see potential in this economically developing region. Malév enjoys a strong position on the strategically important Romanian market, where - with five destinations - it is the leading international airline. Iasi also represents a new destination on the oneworld alliance route network map.

B737NG aircraft of the national airline will also fly twice a week to Amman. The Jordanian capital takes to four the number of Malév destinations in the Middle East. A considerable proportion of the passengers on flights to the region are transit travellers connecting through Budapest, which is why the Amman scheduling - similarly to the Damascus, Lebanon and Tel Aviv flights - is closely integrated into the airline's scheduled wave to West and North Europe.

Until now Malév passengers have been able to fly to Amman on code-share flight RJ-MA operated by oneworld member Royal Jordanian. However, from 01-Jun, Malev will take up this service between the two capitals, while Royal Jordanian will code-share on the Malev flight.

From the beginning of the summer timetable Malév ups the number of its flights on nine routes compared to last year. Instead of the current one service a day to Hamburg aircraft of the Hungarian airline will provide a double daily connection. The new timetable lets customers choose between a morning and an evening departure, which provide excellent opportunities for efficient and practical use of time for business, tourist and transit travellers alike. The increased flight frequency raises Malév's capacity in German significantly: at present it operates 45 flights a week, and the extra seven will boost this figure to 52 services a week between Hungary and Germany.

On the Rome route the airline also raises from one to two a day the number of its own-operated services, in addition to which the two flights a day operated by Alitalia also bear the Malév code.

The Zagreb frequency is being boosted by six a week, as a consequence of which 20 flights will cover the distance between the Hungarian and Croatian capitals every week from the summer timetable, providing three connections a day on four days of the week.

The number of flights to both Thessaloniki and to Tirana increase by three a week, taking Malév's frequency to the Greek coastal city and the capital of Albania to 13 a week.

Malév is also lifting its service density to Tel Aviv. By adding an extra two flights a week it provides transit travellers flying on to West Europe with a total of 14 services offering excellent connections.

The Hungarian airline is also strengthening its Bucharest and Helsinki routes, adding an extra two to the Romanian capital and one to the Finnish capital, thereby enhancing the already significant number of weekly connections. With an extra two flights a week, the popular Black Sea resort of Varna becomes directly accessible from Budapest every day of the week, and twice a day on Saturdays and Sundays.

With the launch of the summer timetable Malév and Aeroflot restart their joint operations between Budapest and Moscow. Parallel with the entry into force of the code-share agreement Malév services will return to Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport, the Aeroflot hub. As a result of the cooperation, passengers of the two airlines can once again select from two flights a day between the two capitals. Malév will operate its Next-Generation Boeing 737s on the code-share route, and Aeroflot will use its Airbus A319 aircraft.

The popular seaside resorts of Malaga in Andalusia and Split on the Adriatic return to the timetable this summer. Malév aircraft will fly twice a week to the Spanish city and five times a week to the Croatian coast.
