According to official statistics published by the UK’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), bmi Regional was the most punctual airline operating from UK airports in 2008 - the fourth successive year the airline has achieved pole position.
From almost 1.5million scheduled flights analysed by the CAA of which 25,000 flights were operated by bmi Regional, 90% of the airline’s flights took off on time, with the average delay being less than six minutes. The average for all schedule flights was 71% on time and an average delay of 16 minutes.
bmi Regional commercial director, Peter Kenworthy, said: “bmi Regional understands that time is money for travellers and we strive to provide the best possible service for our passengers, whether they’re travelling for business or leisure. With new technology such as paperless boarding; an improved network with the launch of a new route between Aberdeen and Birmingham this March, and our fourth successive year of being the UK’s most punctual airline, we’re able to provide a punctual, hassle-free and rewarding journey for all of our customers.”
bmi Regional now offers paperless boarding on services from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham and Manchester for a faster and more convenient service. The service allows passengers to check in online up to 24 hours in advance, choose their seat and have their boarding pass delivered electronically to their mobile phone or PDA as an MMS, avoiding check in queues and saving valuable travel time. Unlike paperless boarding with other airlines, which requires passengers to print their electronic barcode upon arrival at the airport, bmi passengers are able to scan the barcode directly from their mobile phone or PDA.
