The Lufthansa Supervisory Board has extended the term of Stefan Lauer on the Executive Board for a further five years up to 30-April-2015 with responsibility for the newly restructured Group Airlines and Corporate Human Resources division. Stefan Lauer will retain the function of Labour Director.
Stefan Lauer will assume responsibility at Executive Board level on 01-Jun-09 for the Group airlines that do not come under Lufthansa Passenger Airlines and will be charged with furthering interairline cooperation between those airlines (SWISS, and in future Brussels Airlines, Austrian Airlines and bmi as well as Germanwings, SunExpress and JetBlue). In addition, he will continue overseeing Group-wide human resources.
Born on 24-Mar-55, Stefan Lauer has been a member of the Lufthansa Executive Board since 01-Aug-00 as head of the Aviation Services and Human Resources division. He is, moreover, Labour Director at Lufthansa AG. After obtaining a legal degree in 1983, Stefan Lauer began his professional career in the city administration in Frankfurt, where he became personal assistant and office manager of the Governing Mayor of Frankfurt in 1986. On 01-Jan-90, he moved to Lufthansa as head of the Corporate Executive Personnel Services. In 1991, he was appointed the post of Head of the Chairman's Office when Jürgen Weber took over as Chairman of the Lufthansa Executive Board. In 1994, he became Senior Vice President Corporate Strategy prior to his appointment to the Lufthansa Cargo Executive Board charged with responsibility for marketing and sales in 1997. He took over as Chairman of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo in early 2000. Stefan Lauer was appointed to the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG in Aug-2000.
Stefan Lauer is a member of the Presidential Board of the Confederation of German Employers' Associations (BDA) and the Confederation of German Industries (BDI) and is also on the Board of Directors of the German Association for Personnel Management.
