Finnair simplifies excess baggage fees

Tags :Continental Europe, Finnair

Excess baggage fees for Finnair's scheduled flights have been simplified.Special baggage, such as sports equipment and musical instruments, have beendivided into clear groups according to weight and size.

The changes will make the system easier and bring our practice more into line with other airlines, says Finnair Vice President Paavo Virkkunen.

Passengers involved in different sports, for example, will now be covered by consistent rules.

Excess baggage fees have been divided into three geographical zones. An extra fee is charged only if the baggage to be carried does not fit within the permitted baggage allowance due to either weight or size.

Finnair's excess baggage fees apply to scheduled flights operated by Finnair and flight tickets bearing a Finnair flight number. The exception is USA flights, for which the previous practice will continue to be applied. In terms of the flights of other airlines checked in by Finnair, excess baggage fees will be calculated according to IATA prices. Finnair Leisure Flights has its own excess baggage fees.
