Blackpool International announces senior management change

Blackpool International has announced that David Kershaw is to leave his position as chief executive officer after nearly two years in the post.
David led the turnaround of the business, significantly improving the financial performance of Blackpool International. A full rebrand to incorporate Lancashire and the Lake District, the introduction of free passenger parking and an airport restructure around the customer experience resulted in the airport coming top in a recent Which? passenger survey on UK airports.
David said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Blackpool International and I am very proud of what we have achieved in a relatively short period of time. I remain extremely passionate about the opportunities for growth and success for the airport and I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my staff, customers and stakeholders the very best for the future.
“In an obviously challenging economic climate, Blackpool International like many regional airports has been through a difficult period, but is now well positioned to take full advantage of the economic upturn. The airport management at Blackpool International will continue to be supported by a core team of personnel from Balfour Beatty.
“I am certain that the long term future remains secure and I trust that the airport will continue to provide passengers from across Lancashire and the Lake District with a credible alternative to other major northwest airports. I continue to hope that these passengers value the unique benefits that flying from Blackpool International offers.”
A spokesperson for the company said: “The decision has been entirely amicable and as such an official leaving date has yet to be determined. Under David’s leadership, the airport has achieved a great deal and all concerned will be very sorry to see him leave. The shareholders and all those involved with Blackpool International are absolutely committed to the continued success and future growth of the airport and we would also take this opportunity to wish David every success in his future career.”
