The team has a special charter being organised by Flybe for their journey to Leicester and they are looking forward to joining the other 2,700 athletes who will be attending the event which starts on Saturday July 25th with a grand opening ceremony.
Highland and Islands Airports Limited presented a cheque for £1,500 to the team as part of their commitment to supporting local events and organisations. The cheque was presented to Janet Home who is the Head of Delegation for the Team, and also currently the Chairperson and founder member of Highland Disability Sport. She will be joining the team on her first trip to The Special Olympics.
The cheque was presented to Janet and the Team in front of the aircraft before it departed from Inverness on Friday morning by Callum Smith, Airport Duty Manager, Inverness Airport.
Callum commented on the support of the trip by saying, “Supporting the great work and opportunities given to the athletes by Highland Disability Sport offers Inverness Airport the chance to give something back to the local community. We are proud to be involved with the trip to the Special Olympics and we would like to wish everyone taking part the very best of luck”
