BAE Systems welcomes today’s signing of the production contract for 112 Tranche 3 Typhoon aircraft. SINGAPORE AIRLINES LIMITED

This contract, which follows on from the UK Government’s confirmation in May that it would move ahead with the final stages of procuring a third production batch for the Royal Air Force, will provide:

- 40 aircraft for the UK

- 31 for Germany

- 21 for Italy

- 20 for Spain

Under this agreement, these Tranche 3 aircraft will be of Tranche 2 standard provisioned with additional capacity to deal with projected high-technology future capability enhancements aligned with customer needs.

This decision was reached following industry developing and submitting a more affordable Typhoon through-life support model.

Chris Boardman, Managing Director of Typhoon Mission Support & International Programmes, commented: “This agreement demonstrates strong, long term commitment by the UK customer to the Typhoon programme which will sustain many highly skilled jobs across UK industry and provide our nation with outstanding defence capabilities for years to come.”
