Frankfurt-Hahn Airport on the right track
Frankfurt-Hahn Airport recorded the highest number of passengers in its history during the month of July. With 427,618 air travellers, the monthly figure was 1,770 passengers or 0.5% higher than the figure for July 2008 (425,848 passengers), the month with the greatest number of passengers to date. The cargo sector also looks very impressive.

Here, the rate of increase in air freight compared with the same month of the previous year was 8% (15,384 tonnes in July 2009 compared with 14,239 tonnes in July 2008). A growth in air traffic has therefore been registered for the first time since the beginning of the recession.

 

"The current development shows that we are on the right track," comments Jörg Schumacher, Management Director of Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn GmbH, on the results. The effects of reducing the parking fees are also pleasing. "The utilisation of P7 has nearly doubled compared with last year, and it has almost reached its full capacity. Because of this, car park P8 with a further 460 parking spaces, which has not been used in the interim, was brought back into operation at the end of July."
