Leeds Bradford Airport prepares for busy bank holiday weekend
26-Aug-2009 Leeds Bradford International Airport (LBIA) is planning for this weekend being a bumper Bank Holiday, as 43,000 passengers fly through the airport on their holidays, for short breaks or to visit friends or relations.

With the disappointing Summer weather there has been a late surge of bookings to capture some Mediterranean sun for both families, couples and singles alike. This Bank Holiday the most popular beach destinations from LBIA are Spain, flying to Majorca, Alicante, Malaga and Murcia and to the Portugese Algarve. For those wanting a more cultural experience the historic cities of Rome, Prague, Krakow and Pisa have attracted a strong following alongside the traditional favourites of Paris and Amsterdam. Closer to home, demand for domestic travel is high as passengers wanting to avoid the risk of road and rail delays are taking the easy way to visit their friends and families over the holiday period and are flying to 12 destinations across the UK.

Tony Hallwood, Leeds Bradford International Airport’s Commercial Director comments; 'We are delighted to see so many passengers using LBIA over the Bank Holiday weekend. As Yorkshire’s international gateway airport we look forward to offering a relaxing start to the weekend for our passengers and for the increasing number of overseas visitors flying to our region.”
