Airline passengers in future to be insured against airline insolvency
From 1st January 2010 it will be possible to issue insolvency-safe airline tickets for over 200 airlines in 80,000 IATA-accredited travel agencies worldwide for the first time.

As a global interline and billing partner for airline companies, Hahn Air has concluded an insurance agreement for this purpose with Generali Versicherung AG, through its underwriting agent “REISEGARANT“ GmbH in Hamburg*. This will enable Hahn Air and Generali to guarantee that all passengers in possession of a Hahn Air (HR-169) electronic ticket get a full refund of the ticket price in the event of bankruptcy of the company or the relevant operating airline. For the first time a solution is provided for passengers affected by airline insolvency, which international consumer associations have been demanding for many years.

The transaction is processed by the travel agency through which the passenger has purchased the airline ticket. A joint guarantee declaration from Hahn Air and Generali can be printed out from the Hahn Air website (www.hahnair.com) and given to the passenger. There are no additional costs for either the travel agency or the airline passenger.

* REISEGARANT GmbH is one of the largest providers of customer funds guarantee contracts for tour operators (travel guarantee certificates) and acts as underwriting and handling agent for Generali.
