SunExpress, the joint venture of Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, got delivery of a Boeing 737-800 and expanded its fleet to 21 aircraft.
After the addition of this aircraft with tail registration name TC-SNL, the average age of SunExpress’ fleet became 7.69 and seating capacity increased to 4.044. SunExpress will operate this new aircraft at its Antalya based flights. Increasing the number of passengers by 32.3% to 5.6 million in 2009, SunExpress targets to carry 7 million passengers and expand its fleet to 25 aircraft by the end of 2010. SunExpress Managing Director Paul Schwaiger said, “2009 has been another good year of successful growth for SunExpress. Despite the growth of the fleet to 20 aircraft, the flown seat load factor achieved previous year’s level. 2010 promises to become a strong year for Turkish tourism and for us. With this new delivery we are getting prepared to meet the increasing demand.” SunExpress Deputy Managing Director Hacý Say added, “We’re happy of adding our 21st aircraft to our fleet which will fly for Antalya operations where in the peak season we will operate 198 charter, 118 scheduled international and 106 domestic flights a week.” |
